You're Not All That.

There are certain “givens” in God’s universe, and one of them is this: Humility is always a good thing. No matter what the situation or circumstance; no matter who, what, where, when, or how; God desires for us to be humble people. And God gives those who have this quality the guarantee that He will guide and teach them.

It’s worth mentioning that being humble doesn’t mean being down on one’s self. Oh, I’m no good at that. I could never accomplish something like that. Humility isn’t a matter of being defeated or depressed. In fact, depression and defeatism are actually subtle forms of pride, because they’re essentially self-centered when you get right down to it.

Genuine humility, the kind of humility God desires, isn’t self-centered but simply self-aware. It has an accurate understanding of one’s place in this world. It understands its limitations apart from God-and at the same time its ability in God.

Interestingly enough, the Hebrew word here for humble carries the connotation of “learning through suffering.” The idea is that a person goes through a painful process of realizing their weaknesses and limitations as they navigate this world. Just as they start to think they’ve got it all together, God allows something to happen to prove just how undone they are without Him.

That’s the kind of humility we all need to possess. We need to be self-aware and in tune with how un-together we are. And as we are, we’ll have the kind of hearts God can guide and teach.

Lord, help us to have the sort of self-awareness about our limitations that produces humility. Protect us from any attitude that would prevent us from being led and taught by You.


That bolded part really stands out to me as I sometimes forget how much I need God .. and its sad to know that something not as great to happen to me to realise that I DO NEED HIM ALL THE TIME.

it was .. WOW! stunning in form of acting, visual effects (which were realistic enough ahha :D), characterisation (though i did wish that Arthur had more depth in his character...just coz it was JOSEPH GORDON LEVITT!!!!!!!!!!)

..and well lol @ Pansy for attempting to analyse the movie while writing notes down in her notebook throughout the movie...haha

what an excellent day today was.
since i got a new winnie the pooh outrageously overpriced notebook of $10 im going to write about today there since blogging is a lotta public + it didnt cost me $10..lol
+ to force myself to write more...oh yeh an excuse to 'improve' my handwriting for HSC..lol.
oh yeh, also to remind myself of the wonderful and amazing blessings that God gives me EVERY SINGLE DAY =D

finally!

got a dress for formal.
went spreeing at parramatta all day today with jess - nothing THEY HAVE NOTHING
well forever new had a few exceptions...however very pricey and the blue dress i tried had weird sides to it :\
& blockout..except the dress was weird once tried on haha

rather fun today - had garlic bread + bruschetta in the morning since i was so hungry..woke up at 7 just for brother to catch train to uni ! & then hungry jacks for lunch...really regretted getting the 'storm' although cookies & cream is rather DEEEE-LICIOUS.
& riveting sitting infront of 'new zealand natural' for like 1/2 hour talking about things.
best part of whole day was just chatting about things and the frustration of finding a stupid dress.

ended up getting dress from ewood actually. some formal shop there. im hoping my dress will not clash as it can easily....:(
& so much for me not liking black and/or white.. lol :S
whole lotta difference when you actually try it on.
but im hoping not many asians from our grade who are going to formal go to that shop .. and buy my dress since there were a few left.

& for some reason im sooo tired from today...im guessing partly due to me wearing contacts?!! not really used to them since i rarely wear them...face feels so weird :S and retarded :S

+ saturday was awesome since i got new whiteboard markers. they're so thin in comparison to my old faber castell ones..however you spell the brand.

school again tomorrow .... should be wonderful, really.
oh yeh ... now all i need is hairstyle, make-up, clutch .. and my shoes will probably be the yr 10 ones...... i really cant be bothered finding new ones.... at all.
